When Gotham began, fans and critics latched onto the grabby hook that it was a Batman show with no Batman. How could this be? This will never work! But after a few seasons, and some truly crazy storylines (including a massive heel turn for Barbara Kean), Gotham embraced its lunacy and gave us a world where, unlike Batman lore, all of Batman's villains existed before him. And the more ridiculous the series got, the more it actually found its footing, allowing it to explore famous storylines from the comics and movies in new and inventive ways.
The superhero genre is wide-ranging, and one that can sometimes be difficult to pin down. We try to focus on superhero movies and shows that have a time-tested reputation, as well as those movies that scored well on aggregate sites like Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic. In some cases, we may pick more critically divisive movies or shows like I Am Not Okay With This that we still feel are worth checking out. The one common thread is that all these movies and shows are true superhero stories, whether they're based on comic books or are original creations themselves.
Animated Comic Book Movies On Netflixl
As far as comic book adaptations go, this is as good an animated film without a theatrical release is going to get. A great choice for a Saturday morning of monstrous proportions. This is relatively true to one of the most popular Hulk storylines in the Marvel CBU that was integrated into the Thor: Ragnarok script in a much more condensed form. Definitely recommended for Marvel fans.
Invader Zim, the underground king of comic books that sold only at Hot Topic, returns in a short, quality film. This is another fantastic entry on the list of Nickelodeon series that have received the Netflix reboot feature treatment.
The Killing Joke is another film that utilizes comic book source material that, while still far superior on the comic book pages, scratches an itch without forcing you to read. Mark Hamill reprises his iconic Joker voice and even does a musical number!
Netflix has a huge library of non-animated family movies. There are so many amazing options to choose from, so I put together a list of the best family movies to make it easy for you to find something your family will love.
One of 2021's most genuinely surprising comedy hits, "The Mitchells vs. the Machines" is a jam-packed, utterly hysterical film from Sony Pictures Animation that's not only one of the best animated movies of the year but one of the best movies, period. In a last ditch effort to bond with his college-bound daughter, Rick Mitchell tosses his family's plane tickets and trades them in for a cross-country road trip, which just so happens to coincide with a robot apocalypse uprising. Together, it's up to the Mitchell family to save the planet while also learning to be a great family.
There aren't a lot of animated movies set in the Sahara Desert, but "Sahara," which dares to make heroic characters out of venomous serpents, makes an excellent case for this forbidding environment. Way out in the desert sands, a clan of green snakes live a life of luxury and abundance within a comfortable oasis. Contrast this with the venomous snakes, who survive amidst intense heat and the constant threat of death at the hands of nomads. Princess Eva is part of the former camp. While fleeing an arranged marriage, she meets and falls in love with Ajar, an overlooked serpent from the latter group who is shunned by his community because he hasn't molted yet. But he'll prove his mettle when he has to save Eva.
One of the most widely read and enduring books published by early 20th-century novelist Jack London, "White Fang" is told from the point of view of a young wolf pup, and this all-animated adaptation (that looks like a living painting) faithfully adheres to the source material. After finding himself separated from his mother in the wild, the little wolfdog sets off on a journey of discovery and adventure, adopted into an Indigenous community as a sled dog, stolen and forced into a fighting ring, then freed and rescued by a the human who will become his closest ally.
August might be missing a massive Stranger Things-like release, but big shows are returning to Netflix. Locke and Key is returning for its third (and final) season, and Never Have I Ever is also back for Season 3. As for new shows, the streamer has The Sandman, the cult Neil Gaiman comic book that has finally escaped from development hell.

The Sandman Netflix Series is based on a critically acclaimed and internationally acclaimed comic book series that Neil Gaiman started in 1989. Before Netflix took on the project alongside Gaiman, David S. Goyer (Batman Begins), and Allan Heinberg, it was thought to be difficult to adapt for decades (Wonder Woman). On August 5, the live-action series made its debut to rousing acclaim from the critics.

A $40-50 million animated Justice League film would still cost a fraction of the price of a live-action movie, yet would be enough to ensure even higher quality animation and other production values than the usual DC animated movies.
Comic book fans may already be aware of this character from Boom Studios, who launched this comic book created by Keanu Reeves. The first issue, complete with multiple variants, took the comic book industry by storm, and proved to Marvel and DC that with the right properties, comic books from smaller companies can outsell many of their major titles. The limited series was always intended to branch into other media, and this anime version will precede a possible live-action movie.

Most notably, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was highly praised in how it translated the traditional comic-book style seamlessly onto film, as the animation made heavy use of text boxes and unique coloring effects. The movie went on to sweep the Best Animated Feature category at every awards show in which it was nominated, including the Oscars, Golden Globes, and Critics' Choice Awards. 2ff7e9595c
